The Faculty of Fisheries, CVASU: A Journey of Excellence and Innovation
The Faculty of Fisheries at Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) began its illustrious journey on January 1, 2013, with the mission to “Strive for Excellence in Fisheries Education” across Bangladesh. The faculty comprises five specialized departments: Fish Biology and Biotechnology, Aquaculture, Fisheries Resource Management, Marine Bio-Resource Science, and Fishing and Post-Harvest Technology.
Dedicated to producing world-class graduates and advancing research at both national and international levels, the faculty has achieved significant milestones in its relatively young history. Among its pioneering initiatives is the launch of the first-ever internship program in Bangladesh’s fisheries education, which includes a month-long international experience at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu.
What sets this faculty apart is its unparalleled access to diverse water resources, enabling hands-on learning and cutting-edge research. The faculty is equipped with five advanced laboratories, a unique fisheries museum, a farm-based campus in Hathazari, and a marine station in Cox’s Bazar located by the Bay of Bengal. These resources provide students and researchers with opportunities to explore innovative approaches to sustainable aquaculture and fisheries management.
CVASU Fish Festival 2025: A Celebration of Excellence and Collaboration
The CVASU Fish Festival 2025 is a landmark event commemorating 12 years of the Faculty of Fisheries’ achievements. This three-day festival unites researchers, professionals, students, and stakeholders in the fields of aquaculture and fisheries to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and inspire innovative, sustainable solutions.
The festival showcases a wide range of activities, including a scientific conference, product and innovation exhibitions, job fair, networking sessions, and cultural performances. A highlight of the event is the opportunity for guided site visits to explore regional landmarks, including cutting-edge research facilities and breathtaking natural attractions.
At its core, the festival aims to advance scientific and professional growth while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the fisheries community. Join us in this transformative journey toward sustainable aquaculture and fisheries, and be part of shaping the future of this vital industry!
